You never know who will see it when you share a photo on social networks.
This was the case with the Texas officer Brittany Bird Hilton, who shared this photo with her and her husband, comrade-in-arms Stephen, on his Facebook page, not realizing for one specific reason that it would become viral with more than 100,000 shares.
There has been a lot of negativity in law enforcement in the USA recently. In response to hateful comments, Officer Brittany Bird Hilton posted a photo on her Pinterest , not expecting it to become viral with more than 5000 shares.
At first glance, the photo is quite simple. This shows in uniform to her and a fellow officer. Brittany begins with the words: “Two smiling cops are all that you can see in this photo. But that’s not all”.
You see, Brittany is posing in a police car, and her husband is next to her. Stephen, who also works as a cop in Texas. Brittany and Stephen raise four daughters, and on Thanksgiving this photograph was taken.
We spent our holidays helping residents of our city, and not spending it with our family at home.
At first glance, this seems pretty simple.
Two cops take a selfie (incredibly photogenic). Ideally, when they took this photo, they did not drive. They do not seem so. What is there besides this?
Brittany posted a photo in response to the negative criticism received by law enforcement, and to remind people that the police are risking their lives and making sacrifices for their families.
“Before you say hateful things and put all the officers in the category. remember, we are all people tied to a thin, thin blue line,” she said. “We are attacked every day, and they kill us only because we put the badge. You express your opinion and protest against law enforcement for tickets !! We risk our lives. ”
This photograph was taken on thanksgiving day.
My husband and I decided to work, giving up time with the family, so that the community was safe.
Think before you speak. Your words can contribute to deadly actions.
We were bleeding blue! All lives matter. ”
Brittany’s image reminds us that there are brave, noble and compassionate people in law enforcement. Please share this on Facebook with your friends, and let’s help spread her word.
